Practical reestablishment of golf greens following winter damages – A field study

Dead greens in spring due to winterkill is common on Nordic golf courses. The objective of this research was evaluate drop seeding, spike seeding and slit creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.‘007’) rough bluegrass (Poa trivialis L.) comparison with an unseeded control treatment for reestablishment annual annua putting after winterkill. Three trials were conducted courses Central Sweden (60–61° N, 15–16° E 70–170 m a.s.l.); two 2017 soil temperatures varying from 6 16 °C during the trial period, one 2018 13 26 °C. On average three trials, turfgrass coverage 4 wk better or than which not different control. Creeping bent grass did differ but seeded had any other treatments 2017. Together evaluation seed mixtures SCANGREEN program, shows that can be recommended faster recovery winterkilled central northern parts countries.
